Most heart lockets make you pick one photo. This one opens on two, sitting side by side in matching heart frames - the pair of you, or the same face at two different ages, without having to choose.
The front is carved with four five-petalled blossoms, each with a small raised centre, linked by fine curling stems that trail off toward the right shoulder of the heart. The carving is shallow and satin-finished, so the flowers read as soft matte against the brighter polished heart around them rather than sitting on top of it. At 28 mm across it is a full rounded heart with a gently domed front - substantial enough to notice, small enough to wear every day. Turn it over and the whole back is one piece of white mother of pearl: pearly white with faint warm yellow and pink drifting through it, the way real shell does.
