Personalised Necklaces

Personalised necklaces turn one pendant into one person's story — a name in script, a date that matters, a birthstone for every child, or a photo held inside a locket or a projection stone. Each design is built to order.

The metals here are mixed. A smaller share of the designs state 925 sterling silver outright; others state stainless steel, copper, an alloy or brass, with selected pieces finished in gold or rose-gold plating over that base. The rest do not name a metal. The exact metal for each design is listed on its product page.

Deciding What Goes on the Pendant

Choose the personalisation first and the design second. A name necklace suits someone who wears their identity openly; an engraved date or message suits a quieter sentiment; birthstones work when the gift stands for several people. The count decides the format: one or two names sit on a single pendant, while a longer list reads better on a multi-name plate, a stone per charm, or interlocking rings.

The designs split by what they ask of you: most take typed text and about half take a photo upload, many taking both. Personalised name necklaces and engraved necklaces narrow the text side; personalised photo necklaces gather the picture side.

Photo Lockets vs Projection Pendants

Both carry a picture, in opposite ways. A locket opens to show a printed photo whenever you like — see personalised photo locket necklaces. A projection pendant seals the image inside a small stone, invisible until light or a phone camera reveals it; photo projection necklaces collect that style.

What you give up Slimness — a hinged case sits thicker Instant viewing, and the lens shows scratches if knocked

Custom Made, With the Metal Named on Every Product Page

Every customised necklace here is crafted to order: your engraving, names or chosen birthstones are applied to the base metal named on that product page. Because it is produced for one person, check spelling and dates carefully: it is made exactly as entered, and therefore final sale.

What the 925 stamp means: sterling silver is 92.5 per cent pure silver, alloyed for strength because pure silver is too soft for fine engraving. Stainless steel is the hardest-wearing base here and the least reactive against skin; copper and brass run warmer and softer; plating is a surface layer over the base.

What Personalising Involves Before Checkout

Typed fields are the common case: most designs take a name, initials, a date or a short message. What you type goes to the bench character for character, with nothing drawn on screen, so read the spelling and capitalisation back before checkout. There is no font picker; the lettering style belongs to the design.

On the photo designs you upload the picture on the product page and position and crop it there, so you can see how it will sit inside the pendant. A person checks the file before the necklace is built; if it is too small, too dark or badly cropped, we ask for a better one.

Who They're Usually Bought For

Anniversaries, milestone birthdays, new babies and Mother's Day dominate. Multi-stone heart pendants and interlocking Russian ring necklaces are favourites for mums and grandmothers — see personalised necklaces for mum — while couples lean towards engraved and photo designs. Personalised birthstone necklaces add a stone per family member, and the birthstone finder settles the month-to-stone question; personalised family necklaces carry the longer list.

Delivery, Duty and Returns in New Zealand

Standard delivery is NZ$14.90 and free on orders over NZ$179, and arrives in 7–12 business days once the parcel leaves us. Parcels are tracked, the tracking number is emailed at dispatch, and several pieces ordered together ship as one parcel. Full detail on the delivery page.

Import duties and taxes are covered by us, so there is nothing to pay on delivery. IfShe is not currently registered for New Zealand GST, so none is added at checkout.

Returns and exchanges run for 60 days from the day your order reaches you. Personalised and engraved pieces are final sale. When the fault is ours — wrong item, damage in transit, lettering that does not match your order — we remake or refund in full and pay the return postage. That sits on top of your legal rights, not instead of them: nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Full wording on the returns and exchanges page.

Caring for a Pendant, Metal by Metal

Care follows the base metal named on the product page. Sterling silver is tarnish-resistant rather than tarnish-proof: wipe the pendant with a soft cloth after wear, keep it away from perfume and chlorine, and store it in its box between outings. Stainless steel asks for far less and shrugs off humidity; copper and brass darken with time. Plated finishes are the ones to protect, because wear happens at the surface: keep hairspray, chlorinated water and abrasive cloths away. Engraved lettering needs no special treatment: it is cut into the metal and ages with it, and a gentle clean with mild soapy water keeps the recesses crisp.

Questions About Personalised Necklaces

Are these necklaces solid sterling silver?

Some are, and the product page tells you which. A smaller share of the designs state 925 sterling silver outright; others state stainless steel, copper, an alloy or brass, and the rest do not name a metal.

Can I check my engraving on screen before I order?

No. Typed fields are submitted exactly as entered, with nothing drawn on screen, so proofread the spelling, dates and capitalisation before checkout. Photo designs differ: you position and crop your picture on the product page.

Can a personalised necklace be returned?

Personalised and engraved necklaces are final sale. Eligible non-personalised pieces can be returned within 60 days of arriving for 80% of the item price, or exchanged with no deduction. If we got it wrong, we remake or refund in full and cover the return postage.

How long does delivery take, and will I pay anything on arrival?

7–12 business days on standard delivery once the parcel leaves us, tracked throughout. Import duties and taxes are covered by us, so there is nothing to pay on delivery.

What happens to the photo I upload?

A person reviews it before the necklace is built. If it is too small, too dark or badly cropped, we ask you for a better one.

Is there a warranty on these necklaces?

There is no fixed warranty period, and in New Zealand there need not be one: the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 give guarantees that cannot be contracted out of — acceptable quality, matching the description, fit for purpose. Our own 60-day quality guarantee, with returns on eligible items, sits on top of that.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a photo locket and a projection necklace?

A locket opens to reveal a printed photo you can see anytime. A projection necklace hides the image inside a small stone — it appears when you look through it against light or with a phone camera.

What can I have engraved on a personalised necklace?

Depending on the design: names, dates, initials or a short message. You enter the text when ordering and it is engraved exactly as typed, so check spelling and capitalisation before checkout.

How do I pick the right birthstones?

Each birthstone matches a birth month. Most shoppers add one stone per person the necklace represents — children, grandchildren or partners — and list the months in the order they want them set.

Are the necklaces real sterling silver?

Some are, and the product page tells you which. A smaller share of the designs here state 925 sterling silver outright; the rest are built on stainless steel, copper or brass, often finished in gold or rose-gold plating over that base. Each piece is made to order rather than taken from mass-finished stock.

Can a personalised necklace be returned?

Personalised and engraved necklaces are final sale because they are made for one person. Eligible non-personalised items can be returned within 60 days of delivery for 80% of the item price, or exchanged with no deduction.

How should I store a sterling silver necklace?

Keep it dry, away from perfume and chlorine, and store it in its box between wears. A quick polish with a soft cloth keeps tarnish at bay.
