Love is written across the heart in ornate copperplate script, raised in the metal with a tall looping capital and flourishes that curl into the upper corners and down toward the point. The lettering is satin-finished against the polished ground, which is what keeps a script this elaborate readable instead of disappearing into shine. The heart is 28 mm across with a gently domed front, and the whole back is a single piece of white mother of pearl - pearly white shot through with faint warm yellow and pink. The chain is 45 cm, so it sits a little higher than a standard locket, just below the collarbone.
