An oval locket holds a face better than any other shape - the frame follows the head and shoulders instead of cropping them into a circle. This one is 32 mm tall and opens on two oval photos side by side.

The front is worked in two layers. A band of curling scrollwork runs right around the edge, and inside it, slightly recessed, sits a raised bouquet: two open roses low and centre, a tight bud above them, a small five-petalled flower to the side, and slender leaves fanning up from a single stem. It is the kind of relief you find on antique Victorian lockets, cast into the metal rather than stamped flat, so the roses keep their depth as the light moves. The back is a single panel of white mother of pearl, pearly with faint yellow and pink banding, framed by a thin polished rim.

Can the photo wash off or fade?

No. The image is permanently encased inside the gemstone — water, sweat, and daily wear will not affect it. As with all fine jewelry we recommend removing before showering or swimming as a general care practice.
